Before the cold weather comes, we still have a few sunny days left. I am trying to squeeze in as many outdoor activities as possible, as I am sure you are, too. One thing that might not cross your mind as a fun outdoor activity is washing your car. Not only does it provide exercise, and a clean vehicle but it also saves you money in the long run!

The first thing you will need is a hose, preferably with a spray nozzle, attached to some sort of water supply. Typically there is a spot along the outside of your house that will have a faucet you can screw your hose into for water. To get started, you will need a few car wash supplies.

There are a variety of different brands and types that you can use, but one thing is for certain, which is that you need a sponge! A big sponge is best to cover the large surface area of the car. You can use a natural sea sponge or a synthetic sponge, the choice is yours! Now that you have your sponge, you will need a sturdy bucket. As long as the bucket holds at least two gallons of water, you can use just about any sort. However, a bucket and sponge would be no good without a little bit of car wash soap!

Using specially formulated car wash soap is important. It is best to stick with the real thing, since house hold soaps could ruin the finish on your car. Now that you have all of the car wash supplies you need for a basic wash you can begin.

If you want to make your car look even more amazing, there are a couple of other things you can look into. To make sure that your car does not streak when it is drying, you can purchase a chamois cloth to dry it off. After the car is dry, you can also wax it with special car wax to give it a luster that can not be beat. Just about all of these supplies can be purchased at your local grocery or specialty shop. Although the initial cost of buying these items might seem more than the price of a car wash, you can use them again and again, saving you quite a bit of money in the long run. Washing your own car is an all around win for car owners, with the added benefits of getting some sun and exercise, you will be driving your spotless hot rod around with a smile!.

Any man will tell you that you should keep your car waxed. You know they are going to tell you yes if you ask them if you should wax it. But if you happen to be a single woman with no guy in you life to take care of that for you, you really do need to learn about car wax. You can wax it yourself and keep it looking shiny and keep it protected too.

The car can be protected with car wax from the elements to keep it from fading. Have you ever seen a faded out old car? If it had been kept up with car wax, it would have kept its original shiny finish. When your car is not protected, the sun and oxygen can cause the paint to oxidize and fade.

So what is the deal on car wax? Is it the same as polish? Use some caution when you purchase your car wax. Polish is not the same thing as car wax. You really need to follow the application of an abrasive with car wax. To get really good results, you should both polish your car and use car wax on it. Some products have both polish and car wax and you can do them both in one step. Some experts say that you should really do them separately though.

Using car wax on your car will keep it looking good and protect your investment. Your car will be easier to wash and will stay cleaner longer if you use car wax on it. If you car has a good coat of wax on it, the dirt and bugs will not stick to it as easily.

You can use car wax at home because it is so easy to use. Some people use car wax on their car very often, others will use it about every six months and others will wait and wax it yearly. The better the brand of car wax you use, the less often you will have to wax it. If you do not want to wax the car yourself, you can always take it to your local auto detailer and have them wax it for you. Auto detailers usually use a really good brand of car wax. Just remember, you should have it done on a regular basis.
